LIONS LAUNCH CHAMPIONSHIP BID

LEICESTER are ready to launch a bid for Championship glory after re-joining the league this week.

Club bosses have confirmed the move back into the second tier of the sport after weighing up all options.

The Watling JCB Lions suffered a difficult season both on and off the track and both Neil Machin and Stewart Dickson are keen to put it right.

Fans will be pleased with the news that Saturday night racing is on the way back to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena at Beaumont Park.

Said Dickson: "We have made this decision to protect the long terms interests of the sport in Leicester.

"We believe regular Saturday night meetings will help increase crowd levels and this wouldn't have been possible had we stayed in the Premiership.

"It's a case of one step back to take a couple of steps forward again.

"We already have a firm idea of what riders we want in our team and we think our fans will be delighted with what he have in the pipeline.

"The challenge is to have a winning team pushing for major silverware. Leicester haven't had that over the last two seasons but we'll be aiming to put that right next season.

"We are confident fans will embrace this move and we will also be working hard once again to bring in new supporters, particularly youngsters who don't have to be up for school the next morning."
